SSL Electrical offer a wide knowledge of fire alarm systems from Commercial, Domestic and Industrial systems. We are able to guide you on the type of system you require based on BS5839 or through working to a pre-designed and signed off project.
We are able to offer large addressable installations and conventional systems ranging throughout the different categories as well as smaller domestic smoke, heat and gas detection systems.
Fire Alarm Systems
All existing buildings except domestic premises are subject to The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Responsible Person, as defined in the order, has to conduct a fire risk assessment. This FRA will decided the appropriate British standard necessary to provide a suitable and sufficient solution for the premises. The enforcement body is the Fire and Rescue Service and the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLC) have published a number of guidance documents for premises subject to the RR(FS)O. This is particularly important since none of the legislation gives any detailed information on the type of system required but the guidance usually indicates appropriate British standards. The main standard for fire alarm systems is BS5839 pt1:2017.

We are part of the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installations Contracting. As a part of their approved contractor scheme you are assured that we undertake design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of electrical installations to BS 7671.
We are also a member of the domestic installer covering Part P of the Building Regulations, establishing electrical installation safety standards for domestic properties.
This scheme is designed for contractors completing domestic installation work in accordance with the Building Regulations. The scheme covers low or extra low voltage work including design, installation and certification.
